Questions people ask

What is Driftmap?
Driftmap is product-experience analytics for websites and web apps. You add one script tag and it records real visits, then draws the picture itself: which pages people reach, in what order, where they give up, and what each individual person did. There is no event taxonomy to design first.
How do I find out where visitors give up?
Pick the moment that counts as a win — a checkout link, an app-store badge, a sign-up. Driftmap works backwards from it, shows how many visits reach each step before it, and links every drop-off straight to replays of the people who stopped there.
Is there a free way to record and replay sessions?
Driftmap's free plan records 1,000 visits a month with seven days of history and 280 MB of replay, and asks for no card. Journey maps, session replay, goal steps and AI findings are all included; paid plans raise the volume and keep history for longer.
Do I have to define events or build funnels first?
No. Most analytics tools need an event plan before they show you anything. Driftmap reads the pages themselves, including the links and buttons that take money, so the map and a first goal are there before you have configured anything.
Does it work with React, Next.js or a single-page app?
Yes. It is a plain script tag, and single-page apps are handled because the SDK follows client-side route changes through the history API. The same tag works for Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, Rails, WordPress or hand-written HTML.
What does Driftmap record, and how is privacy handled?
Page views, clicks, scrolls, rage clicks, JavaScript errors and an rrweb recording for replay. Masking is set on the script tag: data-mask-inputs masks what people type, data-privacy="strict" masks all page text and turns off HTML snapshots, and any element can be excluded. The privacy page states exactly what the current defaults capture.
Can an AI assistant read my analytics?
Yes. Driftmap runs an MCP server, so an assistant that supports MCP can query your workspace directly — journeys, sessions, findings — using your workspace URL. An assistant can also create the account for you: it emails you a confirmation link and sets the workspace up once you click it.
